Paula - 'I have been a volunteer at The Harbour Club for about two and a half years. I can honestly say that apart from bringing up my three children it is the most rewarding thing that I have ever done. I can’t recommend volunteering enough.'

Phil - 'I volunteered with my dog Poppy, she is a registered therapy dog with Canine Concern, we find The Harbour Club a very friendly place with a lot going on in a relaxed way, keeping all interested and engaged with very caring staff and volunteers.
Poppy and I visit The Harbour Club once a week, when we can, we have been since 2014. Visiting in the afternoon after lunch there is always a warm welcome and the members are usually alert and interested in seeing Poppy, we start with them all giving her a biscuit, this is something Poppy has come to know and expects, she has so many friends sometimes she thinks she is at home, very relaxed in their company.'

Denise - 'I enjoy the interaction with the elderly members. Gives me a sense of purpose at being able to give something to the community. The staff have been welcoming and are all caring and friendly to everyone which adds to the enjoyment of volunteering.'

Steve - ‘The Harbour Club first came into my life when looking for Day Care for my mother. When mum moved into residential care I found I missed the friends I had made at the club – so I volunteered! The few hours I spend in the club each week are always enjoyable, entertaining and worthwhile.’

Michelle - ‘I volunteered at the Harbour Club for a year while I studied to be an Occupational Therapist. I consider it to be one of the best places I have ever worked. From my first day volunteering at the Harbour Club I was welcomed and made to feel part of the team.'

Jill - 'Since I started volunteering at The Harbour Club I have found the experience both rewarding and enlightening. The range of activities offered to members is quite extensive and I have found myself happily involved in all areas from washing up, making tea, singing and dancing, craftwork, board games and quizes. All undertaken in a happy and safe environment.
It is heart warming to see the pleasure it gives the members as they enjoy these activities in company with others under the care and guidance of the truly professional and caring team, with whom they clearly have a good and trusting relationship.
As a volunteer I always feel valued and appreciated.'

Katie - ‘I loved working as a volunteer at The Harbour Club because it was such a happy environment where I always received a warm welcome from the staff and the members.'

Laura - ‘Volunteering with The Harbour Club is both rewarding & enjoyable. Being able to help put a smile on someone’s face gives a lovely feeling & there’s a great team to work with.'

June - ‘Volunteering at The Harbour Club is both a very enjoyable & satisfying experience, with lots of different activities to help & take part in. But the most heart-warming feeling has to be seeing everyone go home with a big smile on their faces.’

Crispin - ‘I would urge anyone who has a few hours to spare on a regular basis to consider offering their time to support social enterprise projects like The Harbour Club, because it is a perfect opportunity to meet new people, socialise, support others and get to know more about your local community.’
